Everything Is Over - AI Music Album
"Everything Is Over" is a complete album that explores the creative possibilities of AI-assisted music composition. This project represents my deep dive into the intersection of artificial intelligence and musical expression, using AI tools to create a cohesive musical narrative about transformation and renewal. Or at least that was the intention. It’s not clean or polished, and there are lots of things I would like to change and update, but this is the first draft.
The Creative Vision
I played bass in a “band” called High Society for a month or two. Daniel Friedman had written some songs and needed a bassist so I signed up, along with Richard the Third, and we recorded an album called “14 Steps to Self Actualisation”. The songs themselves were great, and the lyrics are sublime, but the execution was a little “unpolished”. I have taken the lyrics from some of these songs, and a few also written by Daniel in his incarnation as Deep Fried Man, and rearranged them under the name “Second Society”. The album title "Everything Is Over" is just taken from the title track, but it’s also about how endings aren’t always negative, but rather about the completion of cycles and the potential for new beginnings. The themes are dismissive and self deprecating, but I love them.

Technical Approach
AI Tools Used
- SUNO: Primary composition and orchestration, through prompting
- Audacity: Used to convert some of the older original song files
- Human curation: Emotional direction and final arrangement
Lessons Learned
AI as Creative Partner
This project reinforced my belief that AI works best as a creative collaborator, providing inspiration and new possibilities while human creativity provides direction, emotion, and meaning. Just feeding it a simple prompt doesn’t give back much. You need to be nuanced and particular.
Iterative Process
The most successful tracks came from an iterative process of AI generation, human curation, and refinement, rather than trying to use AI output directly. So that means prompting again and again, changing the odd word or metatag here and there, and then generating and reminiscing again and again.
Main Prompt
Most of the songs used a style prompt along these lines: High-energy, lo-fi, electronic, jangle pop, with tape-washed synth textures, propulsive rhythm, and moody minor undercurrents, Warm analog tones and introspective ambiance collide in a dense yet dynamic soundscape, ethereal but urgent, nostalgic but driven, featuring nonchalant baritone male vocals with a cool, deadpan spoken-word delivery
